New 24,000-square-foot facility in Brecksville prepares for record-breaking demand

Cleveland – System Seals Inc., a research-based seal design and manufacturing company, has taken unprecedented orders that will place its new Brecksville, Ohio, facility at full capacity when it opens in the fourth quarter of 2021. Production is expected to run at capacity at least through 2022.

Last month, System Seals purchased the 24,000-square-foot property at 6600 West Snowville Road in Brecksville, Ohio. The facility is undergoing construction this summer to house the research, development and manufacturing of seals exclusively for the wind-energy market.

“The demand for our new seal designs is overwhelming,” said company president, Arnold von Engelbrechten. “The market is shifting very quickly away from stock parts that add little to no value. Our custom rotary seals have saved customers millions of dollars per year in maintenance costs, and the rest of the market is taking notice.”

Von Engelbrechten said modifications to the property began last month and will be accelerated to fill the demand. Last year, System Seals announced the development of a new grease-pumping seal called the Vortex, which dramatically increases reliability while reducing maintenance and other costs associated with grease leakage in wind turbines. The Vortex design utilizes a helical sealing lip that redirects grease back toward the bearing as the turbine rotates.

The Vortex is available in sizes that directly retrofit standard radial lip seals, and custom designs to accommodate non-traditional wind turbine assemblies. With this level of flexibility, System Seals continues to gain market share of both OEM and aftermarket supply of wind energy seals worldwide.
