Based in Shanghai, China, Matt Zalick has more than 13 years in the seal industry and now leads System Seals’ Asian operations. Throughout his career, Matt has focused on new seal design, customer training, on-site customer support and troubleshooting.
Much of Matt’s experience is in heavy industry, including steel production and processing, long-wall mining and heavy duty presses. With an instinctive knack for resolving cylinder leaks on site, Matt can often propose a solution on the spot. He also has extensive experience with rotating seal applications, such as wind turbines, subsea equipment, pulp and paper and flat rolling mills.
During the past few years, Matt has supported several leading OEMs and maintenance and repair customers throughout Asia. This role has provided him with a broader understanding for seal use worldwide and how best to support Asian distributors and global OEMs in multiple locations.
Living in Asia has also allowed Matt to study various business cultures throughout the region. Recognizing the differences in cultural business practices and decision-making processes is a large part of what makes System Seals a success in Asia.
Matt has a degree in mechanical engineering and is currently pursuing an additional degree in international business. He also has an understanding of both Chinese and Japanese languages. His experience with System Seals includes inside sales management, engineering and business development. He has been based in Asia since 2009.
